Hello! Glad to see you again!
Guess what? I'm on submission, which means I "finished" my book. And now I'm back at blogging and starting up a new one.
(There is a torrential downpour outside. Insane. It just started, like, twenty seconds ago. The raindrops look like white bullets. If I'd expected this, I wouldn't have left the laundry out on the line.)
Now, since I'm starting my blog back up again, here's the plan:
1. What I'm currently reading and what I feel about it.
2. What my goals for the week are.
3. What problems I'm having and how I plan to face them.
4. Anything extra that comes to mind.
And without further ado......
1.
Currently Reading: WHY WE BROKE UP, by Daniel Handler.
It's blowing my mind. It's affecting how I look at everything. It's sneaking into my own writing style. And it's totally a story about me. Right? I mean, you knew that, didn't you? Totally. The names and a few details have been changed to protect the innocent, but apparently Daniel Handler got ahold of what I'd like (or fear): a time-traveling camera pointed directly at my high school self. And my brain.
2. Goals for the week are to clean the house, continue sketching this new WIP (it's a secret, so I'm not telling you anything about it except that I'm in love with it), get back into running, enjoy the zoo field trip with my daughter without complaining about anyone or anything, get on the ball on my portion of the elementary carnival (yes, I got roped into that), and finish this book I'm reading.
3. Problems? I don't sleep well, and neither do my children. I think, maybe, those might be related. I don't know. What do you think? Also, I am apparently not the perfect mom, nor am I the perfect housewife. I'd like my house to be prettier/organized and I'd like to keep my cool when my kids are not listening/misbehaving/not sleeping. Also, my hair is a problem. I hate it right now. I don't know whether to cut it or grow it out, and it needs to be re-dyed purple and blue, but I'm waiting till next month when I go to Denver again to do that. So right now, it's a blob and I'm embarrassed to leave my house. (But I do so anyway.)
4. The rain has stopped. Just like that. A ten-minute typhoon. Or 台風, as they'd say in my WIP.

Hi Amber, nice to meet you!
Why We Broke Up sounds entertaining. I'm going to add it to my list.
I am not a perfect housewife either. I would much rather spend my time writing than dusting obsessively. My husband might prefer otherwise. And I'm in the process of growing my hair out. I think it's one of the worst things ever to put up with.
This is my first time to your blog. I hope I don't forget to come back. I love visiting good blogs.
The book looks good. I'll have to check it out next time I'm at the library. Good luck with your goals. I'm not much for running myself, prefer fitness videos/classes.
I'm terrible with cleaning. I don't find it particularly important to clean, but it drives me crazy to have a messy house. This leads to me having some pretty heated arguments with my dishes. (Why wont they clean themselves? The cat does).
The sleeping problem is probably related to stress. You will never be able to live up to being the perfect mom/housewife if it causes you stress when you think about it too much! Find ways to relax and enjoy the things you do well. Seek out the things that cause you stress and find ways to remove/change/deal with them so you don't have so much stress.
As for the hair, cut it. My hair is short enough that I don't even have to comb it if I don't feel like it. I just use a tiny bit of gel (or most of the time water to get rid of stuck up hair.), run my fingers through my hair and I'm set for the day.
Welcome back! Good luck being on submission--blogging can be a good distraction from the anxiety of waiting. :-)
